Biondo y Caggiano went ahead with authority in La Plata

The Saturday practice sessions at the Roberto Mouras circuit left the same names on top of both divisions of Procar 4000, with very narrow margins and a classification still pending.

Biondo y Caggiano went ahead with authority in La Plata

The move that marked the pace of Saturday was clear from the first laps: Biondo took control of Clase A and Caggiano did the same in Clase B. Two different Dodge cars, two different teams, and one conclusion. The order barely moved, and that is precisely where the weekend gets interesting.

Nicolás Biondo was the fastest in the A division with a time of 1m37s411, driving the Dodge prepared by Guarnaccia Motorsport. His advantage over champion Gastón Rossi was just 91 thousandths. A margin so small that any small adjustment could have changed the picture.

Leonardo Nowak completed the podium with a Chevrolet, 95 thousandths off the best mark. Behind them came Oscar Sánchez with a Ford, Alan Guevara with a Dodge and Emanuel Pérez Bravo with a Chevrolet. The rest of the top ten included Germán Pietranera, Juan Farabello, Ramiro Dailoff and Fabrizio Maggini.

Caggiano, again on top

In the B division, Ronnie Caggiano dominated the two Saturday sessions just as he had done on Friday. His best lap was 1m41s692 in the Dodge of José C. Paz Racing, shared with Carli Bava. Joaquín Pasquale was 235 thousandths behind in a Chevrolet, while Germán Pietranera, in a Ford alongside Roque Caggiano, completed the podium.

Santiago Pasquale, Ariel García, Mario Andreoli, Gabriel Villalba, Santiago Florio, Francisco Florio and Francisco Tamagno completed the top ten of the B class. The classification for both divisions was scheduled for 14:07 on Saturday, with the times so close that the grid could still be shuffled.

There is a familiar phrase in the paddock: "The clock always tells the truth." This time, it is telling us that the battle is still open. Rossi was only 91 thousandths away in the A class, and Caggiano has to keep an eye on Pasquale in the B class.

  • Biondo and Caggiano led both divisions in Saturday practice.
  • Biondo's best lap was 1m37s411, with Rossi 91 thousandths behind.
  • Caggiano's best time was 1m41s692, with Pasquale 235 thousandths off the pace.
  • The official classification was scheduled for 14:07 on Saturday.

So who can surprise and change the order of the weekend? I would keep an eye on Rossi in the A class. The champion is there, with the same Dodge, and a front row that fits in less than a tenth of a second. In the B division, Caggiano has the pace, but the gap is also within reach. The next round will be defined by what happens in qualifying. And after that, by how much everyone is willing to risk on the track.
